Halloween 2009

Halloween this year was so much fun with a baby! My mom sent Caroline the most adorable lobster costume. However, with most of my extended family living in Louisiana we refer to it as a "crawfish" costume!

The Halloween weekend started off with a fun-filled Friday play date with friends at Karen's house. Karen was such a wonderful hostesses. The babies enjoyed showing off their costumes (OK maybe not), but the mommies had a fabulous time chatting over brunch and mimosas... yummy!

On Saturday, we met at Karen and Dave's house before walking to the Menlo Park Halloween parade. Although we missed the parade, we did enjoy lunch outside with friends! Here are a few pictures from the weekend!

Jack is upset that his lobster friend is all partied out..

We saw the craziest thing when we were walking home from lunch. A woman was walking her Alpaca through downtown Menlo Park. At first I thought it might be her husband dressed up, but as we got closer we realized it was actually an animal.. on a leash! When we asked the lady what kind of animal it was, she simply responded... "It's an Alpaca and I'm trying to take her on a walk". She was annoyed that people were stopping her! Seriously, what did she expect... I mean it was Halloween day, the parade had just passed 2 hours prior... AND she was walking along the sidewalk through downtown WITH AN ALPACA ! Was she really THAT surprised that people were stopping her and asking questions?

First Attempt with Baby Food

Caroline was a bit hesitant trying her first few bites of sweet potatoes.

However... that changed pretty quickly! Day 2 she couldn't get enough...

Hiking in Northern California...

well... I'm not exactly sure I would call it hiking, but we did take a walk along a trail through the woods.

5 months

HAPPY 5 months Sweet-pea!

I absolutely love every stage you have been through, but this month has been especially fun. You are ALWAYS smiling... which I can't seem to get enough of. You have also been laughing up a storm, which cracks me up! Your entire little belly bounces up and down when you giggle... it's too cute for words. If I can ever capture it on video, Ill be sure to post it on-line!

Here is a list of a few of the things you have done this past month"
  1. Rolled over from tummy to back - August 29 -you really have only done it one other time and that was only because you were super angry! It's ok though... we will continue to work on it!

  2. You found your precious little feet - September 16! Now you constantly try to chew on them which I find incredibly amusing.

  • You are able transfer your rattle from your right hand to your left hand (and vice versa)! I'm such a proud mommy!

  • You love blowing raspberries! However, most of the time it is just a warning to us that you are about to decompensate. :) The raspberries are better known as the calm before the storm!

  • Still no teeth, but you sure do drool a lot!

  • You still take 3 naps a day... one in the morning (around 9am), one around lunch time, and then one in the afternoon!

  • You LOVE going on walks. We stopped using your car seat adaptor for your Bob stroller and now you are sitting in the big girl seat! You really enjoy facing forward, but mommy misses seeing your sweet face!

  • You still love bath time. I think it is your favorite time of the day. All we have to do when you are fussy is start the bath water and you are instantly happy!

  • You are no longer entertained on your play-mat. You love your exersaucer!

  • You love looking at your self in the mirror... like mother, like daughter!

  • Wearing size 2-3 pampers!
  • You are growing up so fast... (tear)! Your daddy and I love you more than words can possibly describe! It is my greatest joy watching you grow and change on a daily basis.

    Stanford Tailgate

This past weekend we took Caroline to her first college football game. We had a small tailgate before the game with 2 other couples and their little boys. The babies lasted until about half-time which I was pretty impressed with.

Caroline before the game - sporting her Stanford gear! Sorry for the poor quality, the picture was taken with my iphone.
